Khardaha is a riverside municipality in North 24 Parganas on the east bank of the Hooghly, between Sodepur and Titagarh. Khardaha station on the Sealdah main line has frequent suburban trains to Sealdah, and B.T. Road runs through the town towards Barrackpore in the north and Dunlop and the city in the south. The town is known for the Shyamsundar temple, one of the region's well-known Vaishnav shrines, and for its old riverside ghats. Housing is largely older independent homes and small apartment buildings, with a few newer residential projects close to the station and the main road. Buyers look at Khardaha for an established, quieter town with its own markets and schools and a direct train to the city.
